Susan Witt has a Master of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and has been licensed as a clinical social worker since 1988. Ms. Witt has worked in a variety of hospital and agency settings prior to joining Comprehensive Counseling Services in 1989.

Ms. Witt has co-owned this practice for many years and is currently President and CEO.Ms. Witt has clinical expertise in providing diagnostic and treatment services to children, adolescents, adults, and families presenting with a wide variety of difficulties. Ms. Witt has extensive training and experience in treating children and adults with mood and anxiety disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, trauma issues stemming from childhood sexual or physical abuse/neglect, separation/ divorce and co-parenting difficulties, women’s issues, and chronic pain management issues. She has been trained in the Collaborative Divorce Process since 2008.

Ms. Witt has been involved in numerous professional and volunteer activities thru the years. These activities have included serving for ten years on the state board of Virginia Society for Clinical Social Work, including a term as President. She has also mentored many youth thru involvement with Girl Scouting and youth ministry programs. Ms. Witt is a member of Virginia Society for Clinical Social Work/Roanoke Chapter, Collaborative Professionals of Roanoke, Collaborative Professionals of VA, and the International Association of Collaborative Professionals.

Ms. Witt is available to provide clinical supervision towards licensure.

Offering specialized services and help to Separated and Divorcing Couples and their Families:

  • Pre-Separation Consultation with parents to help them develop a plan for how to tell their children about the separation, management of emotions involved, and management of actual separation.
  • Assistance to Parents in developing Parenting Plans for how to work together in raising their children and developing a structure for ongoing care of their children. Consultation can also include collaboration with attorneys for incorporation of plans into legal documents.
  • Serving as Collaborative Coach or Collaborative Child Specialist in Collaborative Divorce Process. This process assists separating couples reach resolution and agreements in a respectful manner without going to court. Couple also works with Collaboratively trained attorneys and Collaboratively trained financial specialists as needed.
  • Counseling Services for Children and/or Parents to manage the emotions involved in this major life change and to promote resilency.

Jennifer G. Oginz, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

Jennifer has been a practicing therapist for 20 years. She has been licensed since 1995. Jennifer has worked both in the private and public sector as a therapist within a clinic setting, school setting and served as a crisis counselor for 9 years. She treats a wide variety of issues and serves both adolescents and adults. She has extensive experience with the adolescent population. Jennifer enjoys doing family, couples and group work utilizing a wide range of therapy techniques. Jennifer has extensive experience in working with depression, anxiety, abuse, loss, as well as multiple family issues.

Andrea G. Haley, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Andrea has over twenty-five years of experience working with children, adolescents, families and couples. She has worked in the court system and also in a psychiatric setting where she gained expertise with a wide range of adolescent/family stage of life challenges. She utilizes a variety of assessment skills and counseling approaches. In addition, Andrea is also able to assist with grief and ethnic issues.

Bart holds his Masters of Education and Education Specialist degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Clemson University. He provides diagnostic and counseling services to children, adolescents, adults, and families seeking positive changes in their lives or relationships. Bart’s areas of clinical expertise include mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, oppositional defiant and conduct disorders, substance misuse, anger management, and victims and perpetrators of abuse. Bart is also certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children and adolescents who may be experiencing significant emotional and behavioral difficulties related to traumatic life events.

Bart works closely with clients to address emotional disturbances, reverse or change problematic patterns of behavior, and encourage personal growth and development. He employs a strengths based approach, working together with each client to identify goals, enhance internal strengths and external supports, and develop additional tools needed for ongoing change. Bart employs a variety of counseling strategies based on unique individual and family needs.

Donna Hatchett, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Donna Hatchett has a MSW degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has been licensed since 1994. Ms. Hatchett has worked in a variety of public and private agencies prior to her current full time employment working with veterans and families at the Salem Veteran’s Medical Center. Ms. Hatchett utilizes a variety of treatment approaches and has expertise in working with individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, and substance abuse.

Deneen L. Evans, Ph.D., MSW is a Clinical Social Work Supervisee under the supervision of Susan Witt, LCSW. Dr. Evans provides culturally focused mental health services in a safe space for exploration, resolution, nurturing and healing to children, adolescents, adults and families. She has over 25 years’ experience working with diverse clients in public schools, college communities, Head Start, community based programs and reproductive health care systems. Her specialty area of practice focuses on empowering and strengthening families with children who navigate the world differently. She offers the following counseling services to meet the unique needs of these families.

  • Individual and family counseling to work collaboratively on the following issues:
  • Increased understanding of the child with special needs
  • More sensitive and effective parenting strategies
  • Increased marital satisfaction and co-parenting
  • Improved sibling relationships and attention to the needs of the typically developing child
  • Increased family support, coping, problem solving and communication skills
  • Appropriate family routines and activities
  • Opportunity to discuss family struggles and the emotional reactions to having a child with a disability
  • Increased confidence to navigate early intervention, special education, and medical systems.

Dr. Evans has a Ph.D. in Social Work from the Evelyn Strong School of Social Work at Norfolk State University, MSW degree from Radford University and a Bachelor of Arts from Roanoke College. She has lived in the Roanoke Valley for over 30 years, is married and has an adult son and a teenage daughter who has inspired her to be an advocate for children with special needs.

Dr. Arvin S. Bhandari, MD

Dr. Bhandari is a Board Certified Psychiatrist by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is licensed to practice medicine in the State of Virginia by the Virginia Department of health Professions

Dr. Bhandari is a graduate of the University of Dar-es-Salaam, College of Health Sciences, Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. He holds a Master of Medicine (M.Med.) degree in psychiatry, University of Nairobi, College of Health Sciences, Nairobi, Kenya. In June 2007 he completed his psychiatric residency through Carillon-University of Virginia Psychiatry Residency Program.

In July 2009 Dr. Bhandari was appointed as an Assistance Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine, Virginia Tech – Carilion School of Medicine. In addition to his clinical work at Comprehensive Counseling Services, he currently is a staff psychiatrist in the Psychiatric Emergency Services at the Salem Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center.

Dr. Bhandari provides the following clinical services: comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to referred clients; medication monitoring for compliance and negative side effects; medication education to clients on adverse drug interactions; oversight for prescription follow-up and refills as needed; oversight and guidance to clinical staff on difficult psychiatric cases; and patient follow-up and referrals to other medical professionals within Comprehensive Counseling Services as needed.
